Cairngorm National Park

It is 40% larger than the Lake District National Park and twice the size of Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. It is home to just 17,000 people but 25% of the UKs threatened bird, animal and plant species. It is also the very best place to see many of the rare bird species in the UK. You can see the distillery from Truim Cottage, so not too far to walk for a visit. Dalwhinnie Distillery has a fantastic guided tour and visitors shop and being the highest distillery in Scotland has some great views too. Dalwhinnie is one of the Classic Malts and for good reason.
