Accommodation - Scottish Self Catering Highlands

Truim cottage is a warm and welcoming house with lots of large windows to take advantage of natural light and the great views of the local area. This modern highland cottage, with great facilities, is built in a traditional style, but with central heating and double glazing throughout. The house is fully carpeted with exception to the large entrance foyer, kitchen, dining and utilitiy rooms. We would kindly ask you to confine outside shoes and pets to these laminated areas. Well behaved dogs and pets are welcome and there is plenty of uncarpeted area for them to relax and enjoy their holiday as well.

Unlike many older cottages and holiday homes in the Highlands Truim is incredibly well built, draft free and warm throughout so you can enjoy spring, autumn and winter breaks without wearing your walking woolies indoors!

We are not part of Visit Scotland star rating system. The main reason for this is we were disgruntled members for 7 years when we used to own a large and very successful VisitScotland 4 star Victorian establishment. In that time we found The Scottish Tourist Board and VisitScotland to be an inefficient, expensive and contradictory organisation in the business to make money first and promote Scotland second. Their Green Tourism Bronze, Silver and Gold awards are in direct conflict with their star rating system, wastes unnecessary energy and paper in the administration and they are not driven by a true desire to save energy. They also love to charge extra for promoting Autumn Breaks, Winter Breaks and Spring Breaks as well as separate charges for each and every walkers, golfers, bikers, anglers and pets welcome quality assurance schemes. I recently noticed they have added significantly to the number of these quality assurance schemes.
Visit Scotland's yearly fees and extra percentages charged on all bookings are ridiculous and, of course, passed directly onto you, the customer. This is either seen in increased rates or a general degradation of standards of the property over the years through a lack of investment.
VisitScotland (the old name is The Scottish Tourist Board) only owns 36% of its website VisitScotland.com so has never truly been in the interest of promoting Scotland, its heritage or tourism but just to make money. Hopefully this will change soon and will be in the business of promoting Scotland again.
Our aim is to make Truim Cottage a comfortable and affordable base for you to enjoy your Highland holiday in this beautifully scenic part of Scotland so that you return again and again.
